I use it to encode DV-AVI files (12-14 GB per hour) to high-quality mpeg4 files at 640x480 for my iPod (about 700MB/hour). I plug the iPod into my 37\" HD-LCD tv and get a very good 480p picture (I de-interlaced the original video during capture). <br /> <br /> I have tried several low-cost software only solutions and the ADS Instant-Video-To-Go (using the included ArcSoft software) produces WAY better quality than, for example, QuickTime Pro. It is also about 7-8 times faster than QuickTime Pro(about 2 minutes of encoding per minute of video, compared to 14-15 minutes for QT). <br /> <br />The device is a little bit buggy, though -- even though I updated the drivers and software. Sometimes the ArcSoft software stops recognizing the device, so you have to unplug it then plug it back in. Also, during one batch-encoding process, the entire computer froze, and it took a while to get everything back up and working.
