Making a camera work over a network can be somewhat complex.  Making it work over the Internet can be very complex.  That being said the DCS-3220 is a wonderful solution to remote surveillance for the home or small business.  The monitoring software is worth almost as much as the price of the camera.   I have a client using 14 of these to monitor his business over the internet. The software allows me to monitor all locations and record the activities at those locations. I can, and have, easily reviewed events on specific days. I can also easily view the cameras from other locations (like when I\'m on vacation). I had to contact tech support regarding file backups. The second tier support knew exactly what to do and it\'s as easy as can be. Tier one tech support is spotty on these cameras. On face value, if it worked at all it would be a revolution in the industry!  I have had two of them, the first cam, the network could not even detect and at great, painful length; DLink told me to just return it for another camera.  When the return arrived, the cam setup quickly, but the codec failed.  Back to DLink to send the URL to download and reinstall...right? Huh-uh.  DLink refers you back to the Microsoft Labyrinth, from which there is no pleasant return.  The cam now functions on a single node on my network after 4 hours of tweaking, pushing and prodding.  Uh, let\'s see, I get 60$ an hour, the cam cost me 240$ and I was out all the money through the return and the 6 hours it took me to get that done.
