Strengths:The D Link DCM-202 was extremley easy to set up. It only took a matter of minutes. The directions were simple and straight to the point and included troubleshooting information.

Weaknesses:

Summary:You cannot beat the price for this procuct. The speed is extremely good. The set up takes mere minutes. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a cable modem and would like the flexiblity of being able to use a USB port or Ethernet hook up.

Summary:This DCM-202 Modem is GREAT! I bought it to replace the one that my cable company installed. Which was a Motorola. I\'ve hooked it to a DGL-4300 GamerLounge Router and it truely takes off. On my second computer I put in a DWL-G520 AirPlus Xtreme G wireless adapter and believe me this combination does deliver 108mbps even with my second computer being in an upper bedroom. I would hate to think what mess I would be in if I had chosen Linksys. I DEFINATELY recomend the DCM-202 Modem.

Strengths:Easy to set up, works great even though I was skeptical that it would be compatible with my cable internet provider

Weaknesses:Reset and Power buttons are located on the back of the modem, which means when the cable goes out there\'s some rearranging to be done to reach the buttons.

Summary:I thought I would see a remarkable increase in speed, but I don\'t. Honestly, that\'s not what I bought the product for. I bought the product for the high ratings and the price. The product will easily pay for itself in less than 12 months, and after that will save me that pesky \"rental fee\" from my cable company. Hands down I would make the same purchase again.

Summary:After seeing many good reviews for both this and the Motorola SB5100, I decided to give D-link a try. In the end I chose with my wallet, and chose the D-link. Everything has gone very smoothly and have had no issues with the internet. Installation is very simple, just remember you need to call the cable company to tell them your new MAC address. Other than that it has been a very uneventful change, which is good.

Summary:I was forced to upgrade my cable modem from a Motorola 3100 when Comcast upgraded their network because I could only get about 2 Mb/s download speed instead of the 4 Mb/s I should have been getting. I considered the Motorola 5100 since it had a lot of great reviews, but the D-Link had a rebate at the time that made it substantially less expensive, and I had found mostly good reviews on it. I\'ve had great luck with D-Link products in the past, so I gave it a try. So far, it has worked flawlessly! I consistently get about 3.8 Mb/s download now. I did not have to upgrade the firmware to get it working with Comcast like some have had to. I did have to change a setting in my D-Link router to auto-detect the connection speed to get it to talk to the cable modem, however. Definitely a great product and a great value!

Strengths:Price, ease of attachment, lots of lights

Weaknesses:It\'s a real pain switching cable modems when you have VOIP

Summary:If you have Voice Over IP - and your cable modem works - Don\'t, I repeat Don\'t switch cable modems. It took me 3 hours to figure out the only way to get everything to work is to receonfigure the VOIP converter from scratch. What about the cable modem you ask? Although it is DOCSIS 2.0 compliant I didn\'t really see any throughput improvements over my old 1.0 modem. I was hopeing for something substantial but didn\'t see anything likely because it is capped at the ISP - so if you are buying it for a speed boost save your cash. It is rather straightforward to setup and has clear indicator lights on the fron so you can see what is working. Would I buy it again? Probably not but mostly because I already had a modem and there wasn\'t a real advantage to installing this.

Strengths:extremely reliable, never have to reset modem, maintains connection without flaw

Weaknesses:even with its built in surge protector, it is highly sensitive to static electircity

Summary:This is probably true of all cable modems, but a surge in electricity zapped my previous DLINK cable modem. It did me no wrong prior to the electrical storm so I went back to the DLINK when my previous modem fried. I have used several other modems in the past and DLINK has earned my loyalty. I have never had to update firmware, perform a soft reset or a hard reset. My advice is always get the warranty when purchasing such a sensitive product.

Summary:Great product! The instructions were easy to follow. Set up was a snap. The design of the product is thin enough to fit in a small place between my computer and printer. It works wells with my Linksys wireless router. I would highly recommend this product.

Strengths:Great price. Reliable & compact. Easy to install, compatible with all the major providers. Cheaper than renting from the cable company over a period of time.

Weaknesses:Nothing major, makes it harder to switch modems if you have broadband phone service.

Summary:D-Link DCM-202 cable modem is a bargain for the price. It has the coveted DOCSIS 2.0 certification. Which means it can support download speeds up to 42.88Mbps . So when the cable company upgrades service this modem will support it for years to come. It comes with a stand to support it when placed vertically. Has all the lights needed for diagnosis. I have had no problems till now. It comes with both a USB and an ethernet interface. It is equally good as the pricey Motorola SB5100 surfboard modem. So Why pay more when u can get the same for less?

Summary:Wow, this thing rocks. I had a toshiba pcx1100u that I\'ve been using for the last 6 years and it finally bit the dust. So, I picked up the dlink dcm-202 because it supports docsis 2.0 and has something called TurboDOX that is supposed to increase download speeds up to 20x (yeah right). Anyway, I did a cnet bandwidth test first thing (after clearing my internet cache of course) and I got over 6000k/s! Yeah, thats 6mb (over T3 speed). About twice I ever got with the toshiba. Anyway, can\'t say much yet for reliability since I just got it today, but its definately fast.
