Summary:The WAP54G is a great repeater but is hard to configure with a router. Needed to set the MAC address of the router in the repeater section. Wasnt in the manual , had to find it at linksys FAQ section.

Summary:This WAP is great. It took minutes to setup. Be careful of the default settings, if you use security settings with your primary wireless router--all security is turned off. There is not much documentation provided, so you have to just assume you did it all when you finish the Setup Wizard. Coverage is good (better than average), but not GREAT.

Strengths:Basic installation instructions clear and easy to use.

Summary:Overall the set up is easy and instructions to do this are clear. However, getting the access point to work with other (non-Linksys) hardware is difficult and there are no additional instructions or hints in any of the literature.

Strengths:Easy way to add wireless \"g\" to your existing hardwired network

Weaknesses:Range isnt as good as expected, despite external and pointable antennae. Only supports WEP encryption, no WPA. Little pricey at the time for an access point.

Summary:This WAP (wireless access point) is behind hardwired network using a linksys router, switch. To keep compatibility issues I\'d stick to one manufacturer. If you already have a little wireless know how, then installation shouldnt be too painful.

Passphrase keys are nice an easier to use than entering a 26 digit key, unfortunately this also only works with devices from the same manufacturer.

As a side note I\'d recommend using this or any other wireless AP/router in infrstructure mode, and set you max security.

Strengths:Good security settings ,quick set up

Weaknesses:Documentation a little weak on how to set up when interfacing to a dhcp router

Summary:Total set up time 15 Minutes , got max speed through out my house & good reception outside. Security set up very good.
Out of the box this is a wide open system so anyone can connect to your LAN . I like to see more warnings that unless you enable security you are at risk

Summary:I bought these specifically for MAC filtering my network, there was no indication in any of the paperwork that it is limited to 40 addresses. Beware!

Summary:Just hooked this up to my linksys router, and I got a wireless/ethernet htybrid network. I had the dlink, but would not let me use more than 4 wired PC\'s. Well worth it!

Strengths:Once set up, it has worked great. It is fast, even with three computers using it at the same time.

Weaknesses:Setting it up. Definately not \"user friendly\".

Summary:First, I couldn\'t get my laptop to recognize the router on the wired
network, even when they were both plugged in. Luckily, I have a desktop
computer, and once I inserted the CD into its drive, there was no trouble
recognizing the router. I\'m not certain that a separate computer is always
necessary for this process, but it was the only way I could get it to work.
Thus, the software should do more to help the user if it cannot detect a
router on the wired connection.

Second, setting up a security key was confusing. Tech-terms were used
throughout the CD and the installation booklet, even in the explanation of
certain terms. It was only through my willingness to go through trial and
error that I finally got the code set up.

After I finally got everything set up, I have had no trouble with the
router. It has always broadcast a strong signal without interruption.
When my roommate moved in, we revisited the original confusion of locating
the security key, but it was faster than the first time.

Weaknesses:Technical product, might befuddle the novice.

Summary:Might not be for everyone, but great product if you know what you are doing. Linksys has long been a reliable and stable product. They do have occasional microcode issues, so again, the user must be capable of understanding how to fix problems as they occur.

Summary:I set this product up at my company, and it has great range. I have it set up in one of the main offices, and I can be in the back of the large warehouse while still being connected to the Access Point. What is even better, I can have 802.11b and 802.11g network adapters using it at the same time, and the 802.11g connection does not become slower as a result.

Strengths:Easy to set up, make sure you read all the instructions first to avoid hours of confusion.

Weaknesses:If you have have all Linkys products they interface with no problems. Thrown in another manufacturer and it takes a little tweaking to get them talking (make sure the access point is turned on first).

Summary:This is a great addition to my home network, I can turn on my laptop and work anywhere around the house. I get a strong signal from the unit and the higher I mount it the better the signal. Plan on a central location and you will get great use out of this product.

Strengths:Works well after installation.

Weaknesses:Could not install using the product CD. Had to call Linksys technical support and was told that did not need the installation CD and that in fact I had to go to the http://192.168.1.245/ page.

Summary:At present the Link light is orange even though the manual says it should be green. In addition I can not reach all my network attached servers from the wireless laptop. Called Linksys tech support and they said call Microsoft. I will try to solve these problems and then my satisfaction will be acheived.

Summary:I bought this to hook up my laptop that has a 54g wireless network (WiFi) built-in. It\'s served very well. I have clients that often will bring in their laptops, some are B (11g) and some are G (54g) signals, both of which work great. I can get a dynamically or statically assigned IP address. I like the fact it has a built in firewall, and the web-based configurator allows me to change options on-the-fly. It\'s a great purchase, and LinkSys continues to release great products.
