Strengths:The new ribbon bar makes it easy to find controls

Weaknesses:Have not found any

Summary:At first I was not sure about the academic version, I did not know if it would have the same bells and whistles as the full version, it is the same. When I first the new ribbon tool bar I was a little unsure if I would like it. It has been 30 plus days I can not believe how easy it was to pick up.

Strengths:Does a great job and is a quality product. It works great.

Weaknesses:I don\'t know why they had to change the menu and other bars.

Summary:It doesn\'t save it to the same type of file as the old Office suite did but you can do the old as \"Save as.\" Once you save it to PDF, you can\'t edit it with office.

Strengths:Live up to the Microsoft Office expectations. Each program is compatible with the other programs in the suite. Academic edition is exactly like the retail version but less expensive.

Weaknesses:None that I can think of.

Summary:I bought this program to upgrade from MS Office 2000 and I had no trouble installing it. The new version reads the documents in the old version and gives you the option to save it in the old version or convert it to the new version. If you cannot get a project done in this program, it cannot be done.

Strengths:Easy to install

Weaknesses:Designed changed,so it was a bit more difficult to find some things.

Summary:I always like to try an upgrade to the lastest product and being that I am in school and found out that I had to learn this for one of my MIS classes that I will be taking in the Fall, I thought I would get a jump start ahead and start using it now to avoid an issues I have later. The design at first was a little hard to deal with, but I am slowly getting the hang of it.

Summary:I recently bought a new laptop and needed to purchase a copy of Office for it so I decided to update to Office 2007. The new ribbon interface for commands took some getting used but once I did I like it much better than the older menu format.

Strengths:More interactive, prettier interface.

Weaknesses:Learning curve to switch from Office \'03.

Summary:I am not a power-user of Office, but I\'m fairly familiar with Excel and Word. The menus from Excel took some getting used to (such as finding the button for gridlines). I have heard that some of the best improvements were are in Excel. Word is enjoyable so far. Keep in mind that if you\'re a student then you save much by getting the academic version of Office.

I have also heard that Vista does not offer much on top of XP, but that Office 2007 is worth the upgrade from 2003.

Weaknesses:If you can believe it, they changed the menu system

Summary:If you can believe it, they changed the menu system entirely. It now works nothing like previous versions or like any other program. Some knuckle head came up with a new system, which would be OK if you could change a setting and revert to the old way. No more of the traditional menu’s. So if you used [Alt] and the menu letters, it’s all gone. They have all new ones, so lets re-learn everything. It is not backward compatible to previous versions and there is no way change it to operate like Office 2003.

Imagine some guys sitting around and saying lets change the easy system everyone knows and likes and not give them an option to use the old way. Outlook has the old menu’s still, I’ll use that with my Office 2003.

Don’t buy it until you try it. I wish I had.

Summary:Overall, thie new microsoft office professional 2007 is ok. It is pretty much the same as the 2003 version with a few modifications here and there. I have not fully played with all the tools, so I can not say much about the advanced features.

Strengths:Easy to install and compatible with earlier versions

Summary:I expected to take several hours to download the software, but it took about twenty five minutes without answering question after question. I did not have any problems converting and using earlier versions of Excel from my 3.5 floppy.

Strengths:All of the standard MS Office apps we know and love...at an amazing value for students. No difference between the academic and normal version except that this can only be purchased for academic use.

Weaknesses:Some may not like the new \"ribbon\" interface, but it isn\'t too hard to adapt to. The new .xml files are not compatible with un-updated older versions of office(but you can still save in old formats)

Summary:This software retails for over $500, way out of the average student\'s ability to afford. Luckily, it can be had in this academic version for about $150, the same price that the basic version of office costs. So, basically, if you\'re a student, you get Access, Publisher, Accounting Express, and a better version of Outlook for free.

Strengths:Innovative new interface, featuring a \"ribbon\" that makes it easy to find the commands you need. Other new features and bugfixes.

Weaknesses:If you\'re used to earlier versions of Office, you\'ll need to relearn where some things are. Many new features are only useful to businesses with a Sharepoint server.

Summary:The first thing that stands out about the new Office is the new interface. One of the biggest problems with past versions of Office is that so much of the functionality is hidden from the casual user. By replacing the menus with a \"ribbon\" of icons in this version, as well as a lot of new graphics, Microsoft has made it much easier to discover and use Office\'s features. The effect is impressive; it sets a new standard for user interface design.

Beyond the interface, however, the improvements to this version of Office are modest. The biggest changes are the introduction of a new application (Accounting Express), and more business collaboration features (for corporations with a SharePoint server). However, Office still basically does what it has for over a decade: provide users with a well-designed and tightly-integrated set of office computing tools.

Should current Office users upgrade? If you\'re using an older version of Office (e.g., 97, 2000, or XP), it might be worth shelling out the money. However, if you have Office 2003 and you\'re happy with it, there\'s nothing dramatically new here (except for the cool new interface).

Whatever your opinion of Microsoft is, it\'s hard to deny that this is a fine product. Highly recommended.

Summary:I have been using Word 2003 at my home and at my school and I found that using the Microsoft Works that came with my new Hewlett Packard computer just does not work as well. I need a program that I will work with my documents that I create at school and then I can work on them at home. I appreciate the fact that the academic version is available for school staff.
