Strengths:Nice details and overall well-balanced sound. Well-built design. Excellent value.

Weaknesses:Can be uncomfortable. Bass is on the weak side.

Summary:These are very good headphones. Although the bass seems to be a bit weak in impact, the middle ranges and the trebles come in clean and balanced. The details are also represented quite well. The build is overall good and seems well constructed. My only gripe is that they can be uncomfortable for long use. Overall these are a great value. There are better headphones if you are willing to spend $50 , but these are one of the best under that range.

Strengths:Comfy, reliable company, light, sound quality so far is good, light noise reduction.

Weaknesses:Cord doesn\'t straighten out, nothing else for the price!

Summary:I\'m no audiophile, but for $27 this thing is great. The bass so far to my musical tastes is fine, and they fit nicely on my big head and floppy ears :)

Summary:I already have a JVC closed back headphone, but since the cushion surround was disintegrated and I was experiencing a bit crackling sound during heavy bass notes, I decided to go in for a value-for-money set of headphones. After completing my detail search, I decided to purchase the Sennheiser HD201 closed back headphones, which I did on the 21st of Jan 2007. At a price of Dhs. 99.00 (US$ 27.00) it is indeed a Value-for-money product from an industry leader like Sennheiser. The closest model in comparison was Sony MDR XD100 which was like Dhs. 85.00 (US$23.00), when I tried the Sony XD100, I sounded dull on treble but delivered some amount of better bass. But the overall sound quality of the Sony XD100 was not up to the mark. The Sennheiser HD201 is not a high-end headphone, but it is surely a better product as compared to Sony XD100.

I read some reviews about Sennheiser HD201 stating that the “weakness” of HD201 is its loooooooong cord (3 meters), people…..come on….you can always tie it up to keep the length short isn’t it ? This long length comes in handy when you connect the HD201 to your TV or your receiver-amplifier in your drawing room while you rest on your couch.

I tried the phones with my iPod, Siemens Amilo laptop, Casio LD80 drums and my Sansui receiver-amplifier, it sounded well on all except for the Siemens Amilo laptop …… The music I auditioned was :
Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall
Phil Collins – Take a look at me now
Eamon – I dont need you
Irene Cara – She’s a Maniac
Mark Knopfler – Coming Home
Zakir Hussain – Tabla recital
And finally the “The four seasons”

I was happy (with that price tag….) with the performance of HD201, the treble was crisp, the midrange was clear and distinct, the bass delivering ability is a bit suppressed on HD201 but whatever it delivered on the tracks “Eamon\" and “She’s a maniac” was enough for US$ 27.00. I used it for a long stretch of 3 hours and it was a enjoyable session with literally no stress experienced (other then my wife yelling at me to join for dinner). I played my Casio LD80 drums using these headphones and it did equal justice to the electronically generated sound signal as well, I mean the drums sounded like drums (full-bodied).

So, if you are looking for a reasonably-priced reputed-branded headphones then Sennheiser HD201 is the best choice, forget about people saying that it has long cord and all that crap, Sennheiser has done a good job on these headphones and its good to have a set at home, looks good, sounds good, and YES THE PRICE IS GOOD…..

Strengths:Good sound, decent noise blocking, fits mp3 player or larger phono jacks (with adapter provided)

Weaknesses:Cord way too long.

Summary:These headphones produce very good sound for less than $20. The build is quite solid. However, the \"vinyl\" type material that covers the ear cups seems quite thin and prone to tearing if you do not take care. On the plus side, these are quite lightweight and have a slight swivel to the ear cups that allows for a better fit. The cord is three meters long, good if the couch is far from the sound system, bad if you use these on a portable device. The cord is very thin, much like cords provided with mp3 player earbuds, but it does come with an adapter fot the larger phono jacks on most sound system receivers.

Sound from trebble to bass is good, but if you are big on the bass, these, in my opinion, do not provide the deepest sound.

Summary:These are the best deal I\'ve got on headphones. For $17 you can\'t go wrong. They sound almost as good as more expensive models. For a second pair to use with an mp3 player in the car these are ideal.

Summary:This headphone could isolate pretty well if it fits tight on your head, but unfortunately, it fits pretty loosely on mine.
Because there\'s a loose fit, the sound is quite hollow and lacks bass. But it gets better isolation and bass when I hold it to my ears.
I had a bunch of budget headphones but this is my first budget closed full headphone. I think I prefer earbuds at times because of this bulk.
I think this is quite a good buy but if you\'re a portable kind of person, this might not be a \"all in one\" type of headphone.

Summary:A couple years ago I bought Philips cans and I thought they were decent for casual use. I never realized that headphones could actually sound \"good.\" Until I got a pair of these! I read a lot of great reviews and decided to see what all the fuss is about. Boy, these headphones really shine! The sound is very clear and undistorted even at high volume, the bass is punchy but clean and not overpowering. They are lightweight and very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. One thing that some people may not like is that they don\'t sit flush with the head, so they\'re not the perfect isolators. However, I actually don\'t mind that as much, since I will often want to be able to hear what goes on around me. And if I don\'t, I can just turn up the volume. I wasn\'t about to spend more than $20 on headphones and I am absolutely blown away by the quality of these!

Summary:These headphones are definitely the best ones that can be found for under $20. I am not an audiophile, but the sound is great for listening to a wide variety of music. These are circumaural and are pretty comfortable on your head because of the pleather cushioning. Also, it seems to be built solidly. Great buy!

Summary:Well, at first I wasn\'t hoping for much from such cheap headphones but I bought them because of the brand and of what I\'ve read around the net.

Once I got them, I was really impressed with how good they are. Actually, the are going to make me spend more money because I can hear how bad my onboard soundcard actually is.

They are also pretty comfortable and block out sound fairly well.

overall, for the price, you can\'t just beat it.

Summary:Great headphones for the price. Wanted to try them out with everyone giving great reviews. Tried them with my computer and MP3 player and they sound great. Good base and very clear. Don\'t know all those technical terms but they are well worth the price ~$18-20. Very comfortable so that I can wear for hours. Will try out the higher end products from Sennheiser later. Highly recommended.

Summary:For years, Sennheiser is a name people looking for good sound could turn to. The Sennheiser HD201s further make Sennheiser a company you can trust for quality products.

Before this pair, I used the MX300 earphones and Denon closed headphones. The difference in clarity is noticeable on both counts. I was always a fan of surround systems and speakers until I got this pair of headphones, but it\'s not without its faults. First off, it gets uncomfortable after wearing it for a few hours. Of course, that goes for many sets of headphones, but this one looks ugly to boot. I\'d rather wear something that looks good if it\'s still going to be uncomfortable. And unlike the HD202s, you don\'t get anything to wrap the cord with, so it\'s excessively long. If you were tripping over cords before, stay away from these headphones.

I wish the volume was louder too. At first, I thought it might\'ve just been my computer speakers on low since that was the first place I tested it, but the volume was low on my mp3 player and TV too.

The Sennheiser 201s don\'t have the best sound, but it certainly has the best price. For $20, you can\'t go wrong.

Strengths:Definitely the best bang for the buck as far as inexpensive headphones go. Excellent sound quality, and pretty comfortable too.

Weaknesses:Depending on what you\'re using them for, the cord can be a little long. If you like lots and lots of bass, these may not be the headphones for you.

Summary:Although I\'ve only had these headphones for a couple weeks, that\'s more than enough time to realize what a bargain these headphones are. Noticeably better sound quality than any other sub $30 headphones I\'ve used. Does well with both fixed sources and portable devices. Reasonably good at blocking out outside noise, though obviously not as good as some of the in-ear type headphones. One minor annoyance...the cord seems a little more lightweight than I\'m used to, and seems to get kinked up from time to time. But in this price range, you\'re not likely to find a better combination of great sound and affordable price.

Summary:I ordered these headphones about a week ago and I can not put them down. I was looking for an inexpensive yet decent set of headphones and came upon the HD201 made by Sennheiser. Once the headphones arrived I immediately plugged it to listen to some music. I\'m no audiophile by any means but the sound quality is amazing for what you pay for. These headphones had plenty of midrange and bass which is very nice especially for certain types of music. After that I tried a few games with the headphones and it also provided a great experience. I am very pleased overall with these headphones and highly recommend them. You can\'t really beat it especially in the price range that it is in. If you\'re looking for a balanced and comfortable set of headphones that doesn\'t cost a fortune, this is the way to go.

Strengths:Excellent quality for the price. Well-balanced sonically. Comfortable fit. Long cord allows you to freely move around for home use.

Weaknesses:10ft long cord can make it problematic for portable use. Weak bass quality with virtually no impact.

Summary: I picked up this budget headphone set for my TV after reading all the glowing reviews about the HD201. Unamped the HD201 sounds fairly cold and thin. This issue improves a lot with amplification. However, the bass remains weak in quality and quantity. On the plus side, the highs on the HD201 are very impressive and extends leaps and bounds more than any other headphone even close to this price range. In addition, it boasts an impressively expansive soundstage. This is important for gamers to be able to locate the direction and distance of sounds, but the lack of bass for explosions can reduce much of the excitement.
The HD201 has swiveling cups that adjust well to about any headshape and size. Its pads are pleather and circumaural, which fit around the ears. Isolation and sound leakage is decent for the HD201. Not that much sound comes in or out.
When compared with the Philips HP250, which retails for around the same price, the HD201 comes up better in some areas, but falls off in others. The HP250 is the absolute opposite of the HD201. It has a warm and thick midrange, with excellent bass impact that does not muddy up the sound. However, the highs are more recessed compared with the HD201. The soundstage forward and much more collapsed. The HP250 is comfortable to me with large circumarual felt pads that don\'t heat up in long wearing periods. There is not much sound leakage, but it provided little isolaton. These headphones are difficult to drive and require a decently powered source.
The weak bass on the HD201 makes it a poor candidate for hip-hop, pop or any bass heavy music. However, the excellent highs and expansive soundstage of this headphone make it the ONLY decent choice for classical music under 50 dollars, and a top contender under 100 dollars. For bass heavy or aggressive music, the Philips HP250 is probably the way to go at this price range.
