Strengths:It is roughly 97% accurate and can be used with or with out a computer
Weaknesses:Struggles with accurately recognizing quotation marks (especially single quotation marks) and commas, and it is a bit fickle in terms of connectivity, and it goes through batteries fairly quickly.
Summary:First, I should share that I use this pen on my macbook with Windows XP professional virtualized with VMWare Fusion 1.1.2, so I acknowledge the nearly exponential possibilities for complications.
After several hours of reading documentation and experimenting with the pen, I have come to the conclusion that Windows must be fully booted, the pen must be turned on before you plug it into the computer, and then communications must be initiated from the pen, and then the software must be launched... In that exact order, with an incredibly slim margin of error. Additionally, it might help to disable your screen saver.
Otherwise, VMWare will lock up and you will have to force quit it, open your Windows XP virtual machine file (package) and delete all the .lck folders, and then try to open your machine again. Just keep clicking the start button and \"ok\" on the dialog boxes. Assuming you do it right, the pen works great.
I was really skeptical about buying this pen because of the low ratings and the suspiciously high ratings for other products by this company on Amazon. The high ratings seemed to have been written by the company themselves and the review profiles only listed the one review for that product. VERY suspicious. However, in my experience, the pen works very well when it does work. I would say the advertised 97% accuracy is true. It had a bit of a learning curve, but I got the hang of it after a while. I prefer to scan directly to my PC so I can correct scanning errors using a full sized keyboard rather than on the microscopic touch screen.
Aside from the glitches that are likely the result of my setup, and the poor battery life, I like this pen a lot. I\'m going to keep it.
